Jonno Duniam Appointed New Opposition Home Affairs Spokesman

by admin477351

Senator Jonno Duniam has been appointed as the new Coalition spokesman for home affairs, following the recent resignation of Andrew Hastie from the opposition frontbench. The appointment comes less than two weeks after Hastie’s departure, which stemmed from policy disagreements with Liberal leader Sussan Ley over the Coalition’s approach to immigration.
In his statement, Senator Duniam said he was honoured to take on the role, describing it as one that demands “common sense solutions in the national interest.” He emphasized the importance of ensuring that Australians feel safe, confident in their government’s ability to uphold national security, and committed to enforcing the rule of law.
Duniam’s appointment marks a key reshuffle in the opposition’s frontbench team, as the Coalition continues to refine its stance on critical issues surrounding border protection and internal security.
